The narrator laments the fact that his life has become so much like that of his family. He has lost his job, his house, and most of all, his love for Aisaku. He tells the narrator that he was raised by a family of "pretty great" parents, and that he is happy to have been raised by them. He laments that he has lost touch with his family, and wonders why they are so different from him. The narrator explains that one day, he had a woman who had given birth to him but did not want to raise her child, and the woman and the man who had stolen the money from him were both members of the same tenma clan
