It's been a while since we've heard from the narrator, but he's back in the middle of a conversation with a childhood friend. He's having a hard time remembering the meaning of his relationship with his dad. He wants to be with someone he loves, but doesn't know how to do so. He tells the friend that he has to pass a test in order to get his dad's hand in marriage. The friend is all, "Gee, that's a tough one to pass" . The narrator tries to cheer him up by telling him that he'll be able to eat by himself instead of having to eat with him. He also says that he wants to go to a "hair dresser" , which is a fancy term for someone who cuts his hair . But the narrator is not having it. He says that since he was a kid, he hasn't had a big deal with his father cutting his hair. He thinks that his dad is thinking about his future, and that he should ask his mom to teach him how to be a good student. The teacher says that she's not good at teaching, because she makes out instead of learning. She calls the narrator a "history" guy, and the narrator says, "I was surprised when I heard you already had mar but i was under stand , you call him mah - kun?" .
