In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the concept of "living with a morning" . The narrator explains that the meaning of the word "morning" is that it is the beginning of a new day. In other words, this chapter is a continuation of the events of the previous chapter. This chapter begins with the narrator explaining that he has reached the limit of his childhood friend's reasoning. He explains that he and his childhood companion, Mah-Ku, have decided to live together. Mah-Kun, however, is still a child, and the narrator is not convinced. He tries to explain that Mah and his friend are still children, and that Mah's decision to live with his friend is not yet a final decision.
