About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that his childhood friend, who turns 18 years old this month, lives in a small town in Japan. He's happy to see him, because he used to live next door to him, and they grew up together like siblings. The narrator says that he's looking forward to seeing his friend again, and that he hopes he'll come home soon. He says that his older brother, who is a teacher, came home two years ago, but that he was sad to be away from his family for so long, because as a boy, he couldn't really see him. The two of them jump up and greet each other, and the narrator says, "Can't believe I'm seeing such a hallucination of miku" . He wants to live with his friend, but he can't stand the thought of living with his parents, so he asks the narrator to come live with him for a day. He tells the narrator that he has already turned 18 and wants to get married, so why shouldn't they live together? The narrator agrees, and says he'd like to stay for a few days, so long as he eats dinner first, which he does, and then goes to sleep
