The narrator tells us that he's been living with a "ding" all his life. He's glad that his mom is doing well, because she's a "girl friend" of his dad's. The narrator goes to visit his dad and tells him that he has a crush on a girl friend of his mom's, but he doesn't want to tell her because he wants her to marry someone else. He goes home and tells his mom that he wants to meet the girl friend. The mom is happy to hear that, and the narrator feels guilty that he can't say anything to her. The two of them get married. The wedding reception goes well, and everyone is happy.
