It's the morning of the second day of class, and Shmoo wakes up to find the two little girls screaming at her. Shmoo tells her that Shmoo was awesome the night before, but Shmoo wants to know why he's so hard on Shmoo, especially since Shmoo's been working late all day. She asks Shmoo what time he went to bed that night, and he says that he went up at 2 a. m. , which is a little later than he usually does. She tells him to take it easy, because the deadline is coming up, and the party is suddenly asking for a big change. She also tells Shmoo that the two of them are "too eye-catching" together, and she wonders why Shmoo doesn't seem to be apologizing for his rudeness to the little girls. He says he was rude last night, but that he'll take full responsibility for his behavior. He's not the same as the drunken "scumbags" in novels who don't take responsibility after they've done immoral things, Shmoo says. He also says Shmoo is like a "sago palm" , and it takes a long time for a flower to bloom, so Shmoo can't really be in love with Shmoo right now.
