The next morning, the Governess comes in to see what's going on. She's worried that Lin might have a bad night's sleep because he's been so hard at work all day. She tells him to eat some dessert and then she'll come back with them. The Governess says that she's known Lin since she was a child and that she thinks they're in love, but that their lack of communication is going to cause misunderstandings between them. She thinks that Lin could harm her, but she doesn't know if that would be good or bad. She says that if they start talking, he'll be able to answer honestly.
