About This Chapter
In this chapter, Desdemona's powers are blocked and she is left alone with her father. She tells him that he has forgotten how to use his powers to destroy all the gold in the treasury. He tells her that he is not in a good mood for jokes, but he does not want her to laugh at him. He reminds her that they are both safe, and he tells her to tell him something new. He then tells her not to cry, as that was her last time to cry. He says that he will take everything with him into the "nothing" , but they are still floating in the water. He feels drained and says that the water is still rising. He wants to know how he can control the water so that it does not destroy everything. He asks if he could come up with a way to do this during the fight, but Desdemonas says that it would have been better if he came up with the idea during their fight. She says that she feels drained, as the water continues to rise. She asks him to let them die together, as they have the powers to do so.
