Chapter viii begins with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter. In this chapter, we are introduced to a young boy named Midas, who is a member of the Brotherhood. He has come to collect gold, and he tells us that the Brotherhood is very well prepared for his arrival. Midas tells his friend that he knows of another Brotherhood member, known as Agent Red, who has also come to seek gold. He tells Midas that if he is successful in his mission, he will kill the Brotherhood's leader. He also tells him that if Midas manages to bring back the dead leader, then he will pierce the heart of the dead man's lover.
