About This Chapter
The narrator tells the audience that the house is still a treasure chest, but that it's now filled with people. He tells them that he's been calling on Edgar since he entered the house, and that he will make him rich. The narrator says that his head feels weird, but he'll satisfy it. He says that Edgar needs a break, but Edgar says that they've got nothing to do with him anymore. Edgar tells the narrator that he heard the voice of the boss, and the two kids are blocking the door. Edgar says the kids are "a waste of time" , but the narrator doesn't want to stop the kids, because the kids have already killed the boss. He also says that he forgot to tell Edgar that the kids were "obtainers" . Edgar thinks they're just trying to kill him, and he says that no normal person would stay in the water for so long. He's sure that Edgar and the kids must have been "wiped on 4 branches" or "swamped on the jetty." Edgar says he can't believe that Edgar is crying, but then he realizes that it must be him. He apologizes, and they go back to the swamp.
