In this chapter, we learn that Nemo's mother, Tomoe, was an angel, and that she used magic to cast spells. When Tomoe's father, Nemo, met his mother, the family was overjoyed, but Nemo had no magical powers, and in the accident, his parents died to save him. The family should have never introduced Tomoe to his father, he says, because she left him a child without any powers at all. Tomoe compares his mother to a blank book, and says that the family turned her into a tool, like a book.
