It's not long ago that the oldest family in Europe boasted that every last one of their members possessed the power of magic. They couldn't believe that a girl descended from such a powerful family could have no aptitude for magic. The narrator explains that the girl's mother and father are the most powerful members of the family, but the girl doesn't even have the aptitude for sorcery herself. She's just too young to be a sorcerer, and the narrator says that she'll probably never be able to do anything with her powers. The girl is so lonely that she dreams about her family and wishes that she could be with them all the time.
