The boy must see what is going on before he can do anything about it, and he will be led astray. The cat says that he has learned through his dowsing that the red queen has stolen one of her cards, and that she is using it to her own advantage. He says that they should have known it would happen, but that the queen's powers are not as mature as they thought they would be. He wonders what the man is trying to accomplish, but he says that all they can do is put their faith in the children
