In this chapter, the reader is introduced to a new character, the "sorceress," who is a member of the De Lacey clan. The sorceress tells the reader that she is bored with the endless meetings she has with her clan, and that she wants to find a way to use her power to help the people of the world. She asks the reader to tell her what she thinks of the idea of using her powers to bring about change in the world, and the reader tells her that her power can show her dreams, but that she must decide what to do with the dreams. The two discuss the fact that they are both taller than each other, and she tells him that she had a dream that if she went to the place where she had the dream, she would meet the person she had dreamed of, but she would be fine with that, as her power would show her the dreams she had had. She then asks him what he thinks of her power, and he says that his power is to decide what he wants to do. He then tells her about the ring he has received from a powerful person, and says that he has not fallen in love with the person because of the ring, but because of his power. He says that if he were good at anything, life would not be fun, because if he was good at everything, it would be impossible for him to find happiness. He tells her to wait for her to find her own happiness, and then he will help her find it.
