In this chapter, we learn that the story of the silent love is merely a coincidence. The narrator tells us that he fell in love and was tainted by the devil. He would never have been free if he hadn't fallen in love with a vampire. He says that when he saw the painting, he wanted to cry, but he doesn't know why. The painting has given him a new meaning: the person who wins the painting will live a happy and blessed life. This means that he or she will be able to have a comfortable life. He wants to buy the painting and wear it when they go to parties. He asks if he can still give it to the woman next to him, and he says that he can't even pay for it if he works for the group. He also says that if he bumps into it, he'll be heartbroken. He tells the audience that he and his mom have been friends since they were kids, and that momo-xue has been trying to split them up. They'll never be friends again, he says.
