In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named Madame Luo, who is a member of the board of directors of a company called Lykos. She is a vampire, and we learn that the company is in the process of acquiring a large medical center in the city of Shanghai. The company is currently negotiating with another company for the exclusive right to bid on the deal, and the Lykos company is the only company still willing to pay a price higher than the current price. The director of the company, however, is determined to win the deal. He tells the company that he already knows the details of the deal and that he just wants to use the information to settle some of the managers and rid the company of those "under-qualified" but "bully new employees" .
