About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy by the young man who is the patriarch of the sect. He tells the audience that he is a ghost and that he will never die, never disappear, and be with his master forever. He asks the audience if they want to be spanked or if they would like to be with their master. The young man says that he does not want to lose face with the girl because she is brave enough, even if he is too shy. He says that if she knows how to hit young boys, then this must be done by him. He adds that he knows his intention and that it is better to be by the side of his master than to face the brat. He is trapped in the whole process of killing his master, and he says that the only demon who does not know is "beyond all plans" . He wants to know what is going on, but he is unable to answer because he has been stabbed by the bas shui one too many times. He also says that his master wants to die, and that she wants to stab herself if she is good enough to stab him. The point is that if you are good enough, then you stab yourself if you want to stab your master. If you are evil enough to kill your master, then he wants you to stab himself if you have good enough hands. The only thing that can stop him from killing himself is the fact that no one will ever know his identity.
