We are also told that "black lotus" is the name of the province in which the novel takes place, and that the protagonist is named "Liu Fuyi" . The protagonist's sister, "Mimiao," is also introduced, and she tells the protagonist that the salt-and-pepper chicken served to her by the servants tastes "delicious." The protagonist, however, is not satisfied with the meal, and he tells her that he is still hungry.
