In this short scene, zixing and dingdong discuss their final grades in math and discuss their future. zixing says that his final grades are at "the brink of failing" because he feels that "math is like a "galaxy" that "pops out of nowhere" and separates them. He feels that his future seems "to diverge" and that dingding will enter a university that is "hard to enter" and meet new people. He will then marry a new girlfriend and have children. linlin says that she will be a "leader in the industry" because she is so smart. He says that he will also be a successful writer because he has written many drafts of novels because of his math class. He tells his aunt and uncle to come down and have dinner. zingdong says that it is embarrassing to see his uncle now that he is so good at math, but that he has to "take care of himself" in being "beijing" , which is a term for taking care of one's own education. He asks his aunt to send him off to school together so that he can take extra classes next week, but she tells him to raise his hand if he does not want to go. He agrees to send her off together, but says that if he has something to say that he wants to say, he can just tell him. He then says that "dingdong" has won a silver prize in a novel contest and is eligible for serialization.
