The narrator tells us that he's been asking Si nan if he'd like to play basketball with his younger sister. He's surprised to find out that he actually likes the game, and that he hasn't been playing with anyone before. Si-nan, of course, is all, "Gee, I'd love to play with you, but I don't really like the game." The narrator's a little worried that Si-Nan might have some sort of "autism or something" , but then he realizes that he just bought a new pair of hairpins, which is the first gift anyone's ever given him. The narrator is a little freaked out by this whole thing, but he manages to convince himself that it's because of him that the two of them have been hanging out all this time. He says that he used to hang out with the girl, but now he'll never see her again. He also says that the school anniversary is around the corner, so they'll all celebrate together. The two kids have been playing together for ten years now, and they're ready to play again. The teacher, however, doesn't want to rehearse anymore, because she's worried that the kids might get injured in the process. The nurse and the narrator bring in a bunch of new patients, including the injured kid.
