This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between Zillah and Zillah's younger brother. Zillah tells Zillah that he's worried that his brother and his junior fellow apprentice will leave the school, but Zillah assures him that they'll be able to find jobs elsewhere once they're gone. He also warns Zillah not to let his brother go because the school's management will try to get him into trouble.
