The narrator tells us that he's just started his senior year at high school when he was attacked by bullies. He's been having a headache ever since. He begs the bullies to stop harassing him and to give him back the money he stole from him. The old man tells him that he has a way of helping him not die. He tells the narrator to meet the old man, who is a thousand years old and a great cultivator.
