This chapter opens with the sound of a protection array. It's the fourth-rank array, and it's supposed to protect the people from harm. The guards don't know what's going on, and they're trying to figure out who's in the protection array and why. It turns out that the guards didn't protect anyone, and that's why the guards are confused. They're also confused that the kid who killed the guards isn't the same kid who destroyed the entrance to the mysterious realm. The kid's confused because he's using magic to protect himself, and the guards aren't sure why he'd want to be mocked by his fellow martial generals if they found out that he was using the magic array to help protect himself. He's just too clever to be taken seriously, and he needs a helper to help him out.
