About This Chapter
In this short scene, the two young men discuss their mutual dislike for each other. The two men have been dining together in the commons, but the dining hall has refused to let them in because the dining room manager has not yet received their student identification cards. The young men decide to go to the park to eat, and the narrator tells us that the two men are very close to each other, and that their friendship has been going on for a long time. The narrator tells the young men that the manny has told them that they will not play baseball because they are too close to home. The men agree to go eat together, but when the narrator asks where they are going, the men tell him that they are taking batting practice, which the narrator does not understand. He tells the men that he will have them work in with their first string catcher.
