About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of Asahina and her brother, kuromori, who are both underclassmen in high school. They are both interested in the sport of road racing and have joined a new high school cycling team. The team is led by the chemistry teacher, kuroda, who is also a member of the school's cycling club. The other members of the team are miyata, ippongi, and five other schoolmates. The chemistry teacher tells the group that they must keep up with them in order to catch up at an attack. He tells them that it is too hard on their legs for a sprinter and that they will have to work harder in the future. He also warns them that the wind is coming and that it will make it difficult for them to keep up. He says that the storm is coming, and that he is not going to go to the race. He asks the other members why they are working so hard, and they tell him that they are not tired. He then asks if they are going to race in the storm. They say that they do not know the course and that no one can escape alone in the wind. They decide to keep the race going until the end.
