About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he's still sick. He's been cleaning up after his brush with death. He asks the police inspector why he didn't call him sooner. The police inspector says that he was busy with his investigation. The narrator says that the fire destroyed all the evidence at the crime scene, so he can prove that he wasn't at the scene when it happened. He also tells the inspector that he doesn't worry about his friend's health. He says that it's not unusual for his friends to worry about one another's well-being. This is a good thing, he says, because it means that he can enjoy his work without worrying about his friends' health. It turns out that the narrator has decided to publish the first chapter of the book as an epilogue to the rest of the story. He thinks that the book will have 50 chapters, which is a lot for a 15 chapter series. He admits that this is a bad idea, but he thinks that if the book is not well received, at least he'll be happy. He thanks everyone who has read the book for their support.
