Later in the novel, the narrator tells the reader that he is on a "hiatus" and that he does not have a reason to visit the area. He tells the audience that he has a scheduled appointment with his psychiatrist the next day. The narrator asks the reader if he has been out drinking, and the reader replies that he did. He says that he feels like a character in a spy movie waiting for someone to receive him, and that his motion sickness was caused by the driver's failure to listen to the narrator's pleas for him to stay in his room.
