In this chapter, the reader is introduced to a number of characters, including the narrator, the translator, the story and art editor, and the quality control person. The narrator asks the reader why he hasn't asked for an interview yet. He tells the reader that he's decided that the narrator is the type who whines until he gets his way. He says that he hopes the reader will remember that what he has given him is only a small token of his appreciation. If he ever feels that the relationship is becoming harder for him to accept, he'll just end the relationship as if never happened.
