About This Chapter
It's been a while since we've seen the protagonist, and now he's back. He's trying to build a machine that can carry a ton of cargo, but it doesn't seem to be moving very fast. He asks if he can have a free trial of the machine, and the protagonist says that he'll give it a try. The protagonist is so happy that he can't believe what he just saw. He thinks that the splash from the river was the cause of his fall into the water, and he wants to take the splash back to see if it's really the cause. Meanwhile, the protagonist's dad is freaking out about his son-in-law's inability to build the machine. Apparently, his daughter isn't going to be able to help him with the project, since the machine is so small. The dad is all, "what's the deal with building a machine like this?" . The kid's not buying it. He wants the machine for his special project , which is to build an unmanned capsule to launch to the moon. But the kid is too excited about the idea of building his own capsule to believe that the machine will save him time and money. He also wants to buy the machine so that it can go faster than any bullet, which means it can carry more cargo than a bullet can carry. This is what the kid needs to buy this machine, he tells the protagonist. He tells the kid that this machine can go up to 2000 miles an hour, and that's fast enough to go to an annual car race.
