The chapter opens with a shot of a young boy. It's Eliot's son, Eliot. Eliot introduces us to the boy, Eliot, and his mother, Donna. Eliot tells us that Donna has changed since Eliot left. She's sold her house and moved to a new studio on the beach. Donna and Eliot have been friends for a while, but Eliot doesn't see his dad anymore. He only shows up once, when Donna shows him a picture of her and her clothes. She tells Eliot that she's sorry that he's doing this, and that he must never do it again. Eliot says Donna's first worry was that Eliot might have the Skar Virus, which is a disease that can cause a person to become very ill. Eliot explains that he didn't think Eliot got sick, but that he did. He says that he was the one who made Donna promise that Eliot wouldn't use his powers.
