About This Chapter
The narrator tells the audience that the island of Cuba is surrounded by an impenetrable barrier. He explains that it is illegal to pass through the barrier, and that he should update his memory banks or wherever he can store his information. The narrator then turns back to the shore, where he learns that the facility has informed him that he will be checked over by a medic for imaginary injuries caused by his hallucinations. He tells the narrator that he is disappointed that he has not been able to find out what has happened to him. He asks the narrator if he would mind leaving him alone with Sam, who has found out that most of the people he knew are dead. He says that he does not want to die, and the narrator tells him that they would not send a team to his room if they needed anything. He then tells the story of how he and his parents have been saving his ass for the last 100 years, and how he remembers the night he left.
