This chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which we learn that the three men have been poisoned with the soul-scattering pill. The narrator explains that the medicinal pill, which is a powerful medicine for healing wounds, has also been used to poison the commander. The three men are still angry at the sight of the wounded commander, and the elder commander is furious. He tells the others that he has come to pick up the commander and that the commander is a fate- realm martial warrior. The elder commander asks the younger commander to leave as quickly as possible, but the commander refuses, saying that he will never let the young man escape from his hands. He also reveals that he accidentally found the treasure in the deep pool of water, where the fate-revelation spring is.
