About This Chapter
The Governess tells her son that the boy has gone up to the "death trap" and that he should not call in the boy's location. She tells him to look out for himself and not for anyone else. She asks the boy to tell her how he's going to take his girl friend. The boy says that he can't even see, and they're going to have to figure out a way to get him a doctor. He says that the gravity of the earth is six times greater than it is in the sky, and he'll have to go blind for a long time. He tells his mom that he doesn't know why they didn't tell him sooner, and she says that they'll take him back to the earth right away. She says that she's sorry, but that he'd never do such a thing. He's not going to hit her, he says, and that's all he can do.
