Persis is upset that he has been unable to communicate his feelings to his master, who has allowed him to remain in the house. He is also upset that his master has allowed the vampire to continue to live in the same house as him. He feels that he is being ungrateful for his master's decision to allow him to stay, and he blames himself for his poor acting.
