In this chapter, we learn that the vampire has fallen in love with the Governess. He begs her to tell him why she has refused to admit her feelings for him. The Governess admits that she has made a mistake in not telling the vampire why he refused to confess his love for her. She says that she will wait for him if he does not tell her why.
