He then asks the second man if they are still in a bad mood. The man replies that they are, and that they still have a lot of differences in status. He says that he was told he would come, and when he thought he was the latest, he was worried because there were no other courtesans there. He tells the other man that everyone had said they wanted to go to the general store, so they would probably arrive soon, and then he will put out food for them. He wonders if his wife has thought of him even once, or maybe she is just relieved that someone is gone. The third man says that it has been two months since they last saw each other, and asks the officer if he needs to hear what he has to say. The officer tells him that he should have asked the officer for something, even a hair tie, because absence makes a person fonder of the person who is absent. He also tells the officer that he has told the brothel not to send any courtersans to the room, but that due to her limited status, she uses this method. The
