In this short scene, we are introduced to the King and Queen of Spain, and we are told that they are in the middle of a conversation. The King asks the Queen if she is letting her own daughter die. The Queen replies that she is, and the King asks her if it was him who put the poison in her daughter's mouth. She says that it was her, and she begs the King not to kill her own child either. She tells the King that she has just given birth to a baby girl, and that the baby girl is only a baby. She asks the King if he is willing to kill the baby, and he says that he is. She is 16 years old and says that the King is obviously lying
