The story opens with a description of a small kingdom called kamia, where a princess named "fairy cherry whitt" lives. She is the only princess in the kingdom, and she has just undergone her first surgery. The boy who takes care of her, named "siggaror," is the prince of the neighboring kingdom. The princess is upset because the mouse who robbed her of the 130 gold coins that she needed to get the pain-numbing medicine that was specially made for her surgery has stolen her money. She begs the princess to give her a discount on the cost of getting the medicine, but the princess refuses, saying that she does not have the money at the moment. She tells the princess that she needs to find a way for the king to love her, so that she can earn more coins. When the princess asks if she can put the money on a tab, the princess replies that she cannot, because it is too expensive. She says that she will have to find another way to earn money, since the mouse has stolen all her gold coins. She asks the princess not to move around, because she has had a surgery and cannot move her lower body for three months. She tries to find out why her neck broke again, and the princess says that if she suddenly died now no one would suspect that she had broken her neck.
