Willet wakes up in the middle of the night and asks the maid if she is the handmaid of the princess. The maid tells him that she is, and that she has come on orders from the princess to find out who her lover is. Willet tells her that he has not yet had a lover, but that if he does, he will give her a chance. He asks her why she is so noisy at night, and she apologizes, saying that it is her fault. She asks him if he likes the princess, and he says that he does not know her that well. She tells him to go back to sleep, and then she asks him to take her to bed
