Willet and Richard have just finished welcoming guests to the castle. Richard tells Willet that he knows that Prince Hal wants to escape the castle, and that he is using every opportunity to do so. He warns Willet not to let the prince disappear from his sight. Richard says that he and the prince went for a stroll together and that the prince invited Willet to go with him to a place where only he and Richard could be seen. Richard explains that in the past, all young noblemen and ladies were allowed to study privately with the prince, and Richard was very fond of the prince. However, the prince became too close to the young man, and after a month, Richard had to resign and become a military officer. Richard asks Willet for some of his personal information, and Willet agrees to give it to him.
