The Governess tells the Governess that she is the student of a teacher who has just died in a freak accident. She wants to see her friend, but the hotel refuses to let her in because she has not yet proved her identity. She also wants to know if her friend is staying at the hotel, but she is told that she cannot leave a message because she is not a member of the hotel. She asks if she can look at the list of guests, but is told she cannot because she does not need to prove her identity to be a guest. She tells her that tomorrow morning, she will forget all about this conversation.
