In this short scene, Caius recounts the events of the previous day. He tells his men that he had planned to kill the emperor, but that they had prevented him from doing so. He also tells them that the emperor's identity was revealed when he was tortured, and that he would have been caught by imperial guards before he could leave the palace grounds. Caius wonders if he could have made it out of this situation if it weren't for his special order. He asks if he had just escaped from prison, and they both admit that he could not have. They also admit that the assassin had committed suicide, and Caius orders his men to find the mastermind behind the assassination.
