In this chapter, the two young men discuss how they came to be friends. The young man explains that his family has been a part of the court for generations, and one day he accidentally saw the power of his father's close friend. He was fascinated by his friend's martial arts, but he was not interested in his own martial arts skills. The two men then discuss the strange language that they use while performing magic. The words have different meanings depending on the spell that they are using. They also discuss the fact that the sounds of the language are different according to the meaning of the spell they are performing. They learn that the sound of a teacup is reflected on the surface of the teacup, and that the shape of it is visible because of the reflection of light on it. They then discuss how the two men first came to know each other, and how they learned to use the language. The first is that he is a magician, and the other is a scholar. He explains that he learned the language from a book on martial arts that the scholar gave him. The scholar also gave him some books on self-defense because he thought he would have to defend himself against martial artists. Now that they have met, they are friends, and as such, they will be rivals in the future, but as of today they are rivals as well as friends. They wish each other well, and they invite each other to come visit them someday.
