In this chapter, we learn that the ancient Chinese art of taoist and xian magic has almost completely disappeared from the face of the earth. We learn that hyeon's ability to move his body in such a way as to move both feet simultaneously is a new skill that he's been learning. He's going to adjust his body's movements so that he can move his feet in the same way as he moves his body forward. This is a big deal, because it means he can cast multiple spells at once.
