In this chapter, we learn that Hiroshi and Shimizu have left the party. Hiroshi tells us that he's annoyed that they didn't come sooner, because he wants to spend more time with his future wife. He wants her to be with him when his dream comes true, and he doesn't want her to leave him because she's not interested in his future. When he asks her what she wants to talk about, she tells him that she wants him to focus on his manuscript and not worry about her. She says that she'd like him to think of her more when she sees him being kind to other people, and that makes her angry. She tells him to be serious and not to worry about what other people think of him. She asks him to choose silence that is so like her, and to shake her hand if she agrees. He agrees, and they go off to have drinks.
