About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a conversation between a young man and his wife. The young man asks his wife if she would like him to apply a "moist turizing" cream to her face. She replies that she would, and the young man tells her that he has plans for the future. He then asks her to have her hair done the next day. The couple is interrupted on their honeymoon by the arrival of a guest, and they miss the opportunity to enjoy their evening together. The man tells the young woman that he had planned to give her a bottle of wine the previous night, but he had to cancel his plans because of the guest's arrival. He thanks her for being kind to him, and says that he hopes she doesn't mind. He says that his wife's cooking is better than that of most chefs, and that he would like to try it for himself. He asks her if stewed clink is what she usually eats, and she replies that it is. She says that daikon takes a long time to spoil, so one could really last up in her mom's house to farm. She adds that the house is not over-blown in the sense that one would expect in a big city house. She tells the man that marriage does make a man different from a man, but that he is playing a joke on her. She then asks him if he wants to drink the wine with her, and he says he does. She asks him how he goes about going extra-marital with his wife, and when he replies that he does, she says that she is the only one who has the wine. She also says that the man is never home, but she hopes that he will give her hints that she will give in marriage
