The young architect tells his wife that he has made her an appointment to go to the hair salon to get her hair done. He tells her that he will come pick her up later that afternoon. The two women are in high spirits, and the young man tells her he has just had his hair set. He says that he feels "hot" and that his face is "frozen" . He asks his wife if she would like to thank him for the gifts he gave her the other day, and she says that she would rather not thank him at all for his kindness to her husband. She says that her face is frozen and that she feels like she has gotten used to it. She tells him that she has come to the awards ceremony too, and he asks her if she has seen her husband before. She replies that she did, and that her husband gave her a gift that she found in the pore of a pore. She asks him if he gave it to her, and when he says yes, she tells him to keep his " useless trivia" to himself. She then says that women do not want to marry because they do not like to strain themselves if they are feeling tired. He replies that his wife once said that they had to make a "model of a city" of the future, and it was this remark that made him want to live in the city. The narrator tells us that this remark was made by his wife when they were both in school, but that it has shaped his life ever since.
