About This Chapter
It's 2:00 p.m., and the narrator is in the middle of making a last-minute call for a job at a luxury resort. He's worried that the resort's president is jealous, but he doesn't know it yet. The resort is a "glamping resort" , which is a fancy way of saying that you can stay in a suite and have all the comforts of home without having to go to work every day. The narrator is bummed that he can't get a job because he's so excited about his honeymoon. He thinks the resort is too expensive for a honeymoon, but the president is busy with his employees, so he'd rather spend the day at the resort than at work. He tries to get the narrator to admit that she's a "dream come true" . But the narrator isn't having it. He says that one's "first love" is the most important thing in life, and that it's hard to get married to someone who's not your first love. This is a lie, the narrator says, because the first love story is just a lie. The president is angry, he says, and he throws soap in his eyes.
