About This Chapter
The narrator returns to his room to find that his wife has returned to the room. He is surprised to see that she has returned, as he had thought that she had left him alone. He tells her that he will treat her very nicely, and that he would like to see her in his new home. He asks her if she has a table, and she replies that she does, and he invites her to have a meal with him. The narrator tells his wife that he has found a beautiful house in the northern part of the not-so-suburbia, which he had dismantled and brought to the house. He then asks her whether she would mind if he had quarreled with her husband. She replies that it was work, and the narrator asks her to take as much time as she likes. She tells him that her husband has not returned yet, but that he is taking a long time to come back to her. She asks him if he is drunk. He replies that he was, but he is blushing. She then asks him to cancel his plans to move to her new apartment in the ward of Katsushika, as she has already decided to move elsewhere. He says that he can stay a bit longer, and they return to his home.
