Lin tells his brothers that he has hired his sister as the new waitress. He tells her to come with him to the boss's house and get used to his new environment. Lin is happy to see his sister, but he is worried that she will not be able to adjust to the new environment quickly. He asks her to wait for her, and she agrees. Lin tells her that the family situation has gotten worse, and that she must have spent all of her money treating her to ice cream the last time she saw her. She must have done something really good for her sister, he says, and he is sure that she would have spent that money on ice cream. He says that he cannot accept the job because the two of them are not able to repay the kindness he has shown them. He hopes that her younger sister can live a more normal life, since she is still young. He explains that he wishes for her younger brother, but that he also has regrets that cannot be resolved. He wonders if his figure is depressed enough to have prepared eye drops if he had known.
